RenJie® Antistatic Additive for Nylon

Permanent, non-migrating ESD protection for nylon resins, compounds and films

RenJie® Antistatic Additive for Nylon

An antistatic additive for nylon is an additive used in nylon resins. Its main function is to reduce the surface resistance of nylon ESD compounds and make them antistatic. During use, it effectively prevents nylon products from electric shock, sparks and other problems caused by static electricity accumulation, thereby improving the safety and performance of the products.

What Is an Antistatic Additive for Nylon?

Static electricity accumulates easily on insulating polymers such as nylon (PA). Unless it is controlled, that charge leads to dust attraction, electric shock to operators and, in the worst case, sparking that can damage electronic components or create an ignition risk. An antistatic additive for nylon is the functional ingredient that answers this problem: added to the resin, it lowers the surface resistance of the nylon ESD compound so that static charge can dissipate safely instead of building up.

RenJie® supplies antistatic solutions for nylon in two commercial forms — a permanent antistatic additive (92AN) for compounders, and a permanent antistatic masterbatch (PA300AN) for direct dry-blending.

RenJie® 92AN: Permanent, Non-Migrating Antistatic Additive for Nylon

92AN is a permanent, non-migrating, internally added antistatic additive for nylon that is designed for both anti-dust and electrostatic discharge (ESD) prevention applications.

Immediately functional. The additive imparts long-term antistatic performance as soon as it is incorporated, with a low influence of relative humidity on the antistatic performance.

Colour freedom. It is suitable for any colour formulation, so antistatic protection does not restrict your product design.

Process friendly. It can be processed by injection moulding, extrusion and blown film after compounding with nylon.

Standard dosage. The standard amount of 92AN is between 10 and 20 wt %.

Recommended for compounders: 92AN is supplied as an additive and is intended to be compounded into nylon, giving you full control over formulation and let-down ratio.

RenJie® PA300AN: Permanent Antistatic Masterbatch for Nylon 6 Blown Film

PA300AN is a permanent antistatic masterbatch designed for nylon 6 single-layer blown film of 2.0 mils. It is a permanent nylon ESD compound for dry-blending, and at the regular addition level of 10 wt % it achieves 10¹⁰ Ω on nylon blown film.

It is suitable for antistatic blown films that require strong abrasion resistance and good thermal stability, making it a practical choice for high-quality cleanroom packaging solutions.

Recommended for film producers: masterbatch is simply dry-blended with the base resin — no separate compounding step is required.

In-Depth Look at RenJie® Antistatic Masterbatches

The antistatic additive is the key component that gives materials their antistatic properties. A RenJie® antistatic masterbatch is an antistatic agent in an optimised ratio, perfectly integrated with various base resins through advanced technology.

Compared with the direct use of an antistatic additive, an antistatic masterbatch offers a number of advantages: good dispersibility, easy control of the addition amount, and convenient use. It ensures that the antistatic agent is evenly distributed in the plastic matrix, that it stably exerts its antistatic effect, and that it continuously protects your injection moulding and extrusion moulding products — effectively avoiding the series of problems caused by static electricity accumulation, such as dust absorption, electric shock, and any impact on product performance and appearance.

Customised Service

We know that different customers have unique needs in different application scenarios. RenJie® not only provides standardised, high-quality antistatic masterbatches based on PP, PE, HIPS, PVC, POM, TPU, PET, MABS and other common materials, but can also quickly prepare customised formulations according to your special applications.

Easy to Use

RenJie® antistatic masterbatch can be put into use by dry mixing, without a cumbersome compounding process. This greatly simplifies your production process, saves time and labour costs, and helps you produce efficiently.

Key Features of RenJie® Antistatic Additive for Nylon

Good temperature resistance. Stable antistatic effect is maintained at higher temperatures, meeting the requirements of nylon products in certain high-temperature environments — for example, nylon parts around automobile engines, or nylon shells of electronic and electrical equipment in a heating state. The antistatic function is not lost as temperature increases.

Long-lasting antistatic effect. Performance is long-lasting and stable. Unlike some low-molecular-weight antistatic additives that may gradually migrate, volatilise or be wiped off during use, the antistatic additive for nylon continues to play a stable antistatic role throughout the service life of the nylon product.

Small impact on material properties. While giving nylon antistatic properties, it has little impact on the basic properties of nylon ESD compounds such as mechanical and processing properties. It does not cause a significant decrease in strength, toughness or hardness, nor does it have a significant adverse effect on the processing process.

Good compatibility. The antistatic additive for nylon and the antistatic masterbatch show good compatibility with nylon resin and disperse evenly in nylon materials, without phase separation or precipitation. This ensures a uniform distribution of the antistatic agent in the finished product, so that all parts of the product obtain consistent antistatic properties.

Antistatic Additive vs. Antistatic Masterbatch: What's the Difference?

AspectAntistatic AdditiveAntistatic Masterbatch
IngredientsA single chemical substance or mixture.A mixture made by blending antistatic additives, carrier resin, compatibiliser and other components.
UsageMust be compounded; recommended for compounders.Only needs to be mixed with the base resin in a certain proportion; the addition amount is more accurate and more convenient.
Dosage and dispersion effectDosage is relatively small; the antistatic effect may be affected by processing technology, conditions and environmental factors.Dosage is relatively large, and dispersion in the resin is better.
CostMay be relatively low in cost, but the loss and control difficulty during the addition process must be considered.Dosage is relatively large, so the unit cost is relatively high; however, thanks to its convenience and the overall production process, the total cost may be more reasonable.

Frequently Asked Questions About Nylon Antistatic Additives

Is RenJie® 92AN a permanent or a migratory antistatic additive?

It is permanent and non-migrating. 92AN is designed as an internally added antistatic additive: it is immediately functional and imparts long-term antistatic performance rather than relying on surface migration.

What dosage of 92AN is recommended?

The standard amount of 92AN is between 10 and 20 wt %, depending on the target surface resistance and the nylon grade used.

What surface resistance can PA300AN achieve?

PA300AN is designed for nylon 6 single-layer blown film of 2.0 mils. Dry-blended at the regular level of 10 wt %, it achieves 10¹⁰ Ω on nylon blown film.

Does relative humidity affect antistatic performance?

The antistatic additive is characterised by a low influence of relative humidity on the antistatic performance, so performance remains stable across changing ambient conditions.

Which processing methods are supported?

After compounding with nylon, 92AN can be processed by injection moulding, extrusion and blown film. PA300AN antistatic masterbatch is used by dry-blending and is designed for nylon 6 blown film of 2.0 mils.

Can the additive be used in coloured nylon products?

Yes. 92AN is suitable for any colour formulation, so antistatic protection can be combined freely with your colour requirements.

Do I need special compounding equipment to use the masterbatch?

No. RenJie® antistatic masterbatch can be put into use by dry mixing, without a cumbersome compounding process, which simplifies production and saves time and labour costs.
