RENJIE® ESD PEEK Compound: 450K Antistatic and 450C Conductive Grades

RENJIE® ESD PEEK compound is based on PEEK (polyetheretherketone) resin, formulated with carbon black, carbon nanotubes or carbon fibres. Depending on the filler system, it delivers antistatic protection, conductivity or electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding.

Surface resistance is adjustable across the range 10^3 to 10^8 Ω, so the same material platform can be tuned from static-dissipative handling parts to genuinely conductive components without changing the base polymer.

Grade Overview

GradeTypeTypical use
450KAntistatic ESD PEEKStatic control where parts must not generate or accumulate charge, with maximum mechanical margin
450CConductive ESD PEEKCharge conduction and EMI-related duties, supplied as regular black solid

Both grades share the PEEK property core: high temperature resistance, chemical resistance, wear resistance and dimensional stability. They differ in filler system, and therefore in conductivity level, colour and cost — specify the target resistance first and the grade follows.

450K: Antistatic PEEK Compound

450K is a PEEK ESD compound made with polyetheretherketone (PEEK) as the base material, compounded by adding special antistatic agents or conductive fillers.

It effectively controls the generation and accumulation of static electricity and prevents electrostatic discharge from damaging sensitive electronic components.

Mechanical profile. 450K has high strength, high rigidity and excellent mechanical properties, and withstands greater pressure and tension — the grade to choose when the part is structural as well as static-safe.

Thermal profile. The compound resists high temperatures and maintains good performance stability in high-temperature environments.

Chemical profile. Strong chemical corrosion resistance, with good tolerance to most chemicals.

450C: Conductive PEEK Compound

450C is a conductive PEEK compound supplied as a regular black solid with a hard texture, smooth surface and a density of 1.4–1.45 g/cm³.

Its property set:

  • Good conductive properties
  • High mechanical strength
  • High-temperature resistance
  • Chemical resistance and hydrolysis resistance
  • Wear resistance and good friction behaviour
  • High creep resistance, good dimensional stability
  • UV resistance
  • Resistance to high-energy radiation
  • Inherent low flammability, with low smoke production when burning

Applications of PEEK ESD Compound

Electronic and electrical

Used to manufacture housings, connectors and insulating parts for electronic equipment, preventing static from interfering with and damaging electronic components.

Aerospace

Parts inside aircraft and spacecraft, meeting antistatic requirements while withstanding harsh operating environments.

Medical

Parts for medical equipment, ensuring safety and reliability in use — gas analyser structural parts, heat exchanger scrapers and similar components.

Energy and batteries

PEEK ESD has become one of the indispensable materials in fuel cells, on the strength of its high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and wear resistance.

Semiconductors

Mainly used in 300 mm chip carriers, CMP retaining rings, wafer chucks, insulating films, connectors, printed circuit boards, high-temperature connectors and plating rings.

Automotive and automation

PEEK ESD has a lower specific gravity than glass-fibre-filled PEEK compounds while providing very high strength. That combination makes antistatic PEEK an ideal choice for lightweight parts in automobiles, sporting goods, robots, drones and other automation systems.

Selecting Between 450K and 450C

If your requirement is…Choose
Static dissipation without charge accumulation, maximum strength450K
Conduction across the part, EMI-related function450C
Lowest weight versus glass-fibre PEEK at equal strengthEither — both are lighter than GF grades
Hydrolysis or hot-wet service450C (hydrolysis resistance specified)
Semiconductor tooling (carriers, rings, chucks)Specify by target resistance and cleanliness requirement

State four inputs at enquiry: target surface resistance (Ω), service temperature, chemical or cleaning exposure, and part form (machined stock shape or moulded part).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ESD PEEK compound? A PEEK resin compounded with carbon black, carbon nanotubes or carbon fibres to deliver antistatic, conductive or EMI performance while retaining PEEK's mechanical, thermal and chemical properties.

What surface resistance can be achieved? Adjustable from 10^3 to 10^8 Ω, depending on filler type and loading.

What is the difference between 450K and 450C? 450K is the antistatic grade, built for static control with high strength and rigidity. 450C is the conductive grade, a black solid at 1.4–1.45 g/cm³ with hydrolysis resistance and the full PEEK property set.

Is ESD PEEK lighter than glass-fibre PEEK? Yes. ESD PEEK has a lower specific gravity than glass-fibre-filled PEEK compounds while providing very high strength, which is why it is used for lightweight automotive, robotics and drone parts.

Can it be used in semiconductor tooling? Yes — 300 mm chip carriers, CMP retaining rings, wafer chucks, insulating films and high-temperature connectors are established applications.

Does it resist radiation and fire? The material resists high-energy radiation and has inherent low flammability with low smoke production when burning.

Source RENJIE® ESD PEEK Compound

  • Two grades, one platform — 450K antistatic and 450C conductive, both on PEEK resin.
  • Tunable resistance — 10^3 to 10^8 Ω to match the application rather than the catalogue.
  • Proven in demanding sectors — semiconductor, aerospace, medical, fuel cell and automotive.
  • Lighter than GF PEEK — lower specific gravity at high strength.
